This picture was taken during a visit to a local Home for the Aged. The
elderly gentleman looked disoriented and was trying to get away from
the compound when he noticed the main gate opening. When prevented
from escaping, he sat by the gate looking completely lost and depressed.
Learning Points
With a rapidly aging population and increased life expectancy, more and
more people will be facing many serious challenges and problems that
inevitably come with aging.
Isolation, inadequate family support and abandonment leads to
depressions among the elderly.
The young and the not-so-young should be more physically, mentally,
socially and financially prepared for aging.
