RECOVERY FROM LACERATION
All rights reserved. Use of pictures without written permission from the author is strictly prohibited.

The picture of the laceration was taken on 16 July 2010 after the patient
fell. The V shaped wound measured over 6 cm and the detached portion
had shrunken to a corner. Superficial veins were clearly visible through
the fresh wound. Fortunately, no deeper tissue was involved and the
wound was clean.

The lower picture was taken on 24 July 2010 when the patient returned
for removal of stitches. The wound had healed very well and in future as
further growth and repair of the affected skin occurs, the wound will look
as good as new with minimal scar.

Learning Points

Safety is paramount in preventing accidents. This showcases a minor
injury and its treatment but prevention is still the best medicine.
